As I sit here and think about all of the things that have gone on over the last 3 months it seems sureal. It all started as a minor surgery that would have had my favorite uncle (who by the way is only 6yrs older than me and more like a brother than an uncle) laid up for about 3 days and then he would be on his way to healing and within a few weeks back to work as usual.
Well needless to say that didn't happen. His minor surgery turned into Sepsis, MRSA/VRE, and Toxic Shock. It has been a long road from where he was to where he is for not only him but those of us who love him dearly. I am so thankful for not only the amazing medical care he got at the University of Utah Hospital in SLC, UT but for the fact that he is here at all (I love you Uncle!)
On the more personal side of the last three months... I missed the high school reunion I had been so excited to attend for the entire year prior to the event, I missed the Oyster Ridge Music Festival, and I missed work (after I used all of my vacation & personal time luckily they allowed me to work remotely for awhile.) With this said let me also say that I wouldn't have traded one second of holding my uncle's hand to be at any of those things.
We all have preconceived notions of what we would do and what kind of decisions we would make if we are put in the position to determine the care a family member will get. Let me just say that if there ever comes a time when you are put in the position to have to make an important life or death decision... GET INFORMED! Do not take things lightly, do research, get 2nd, 3rd, & 4th opinions, stand strong and be firm after all it is up to you to do what's best.
Ultimately it is what it is but if you make the best decision you possibly can you will have the satisfaction and relief knowing you did what you could.

By shear chance I ran across a website that has touched me deeply. I have always had a deep caring for animals and have a great admiration for those people who have the ability and situation to care for animals who have been neglected or abandoned.
I do not know the people who run A CHANCE FOR BLISS located in Penryn, CA but I do admire, respect, and appreciate what they do! They are simply angels in my opinion!

My Friend!
When you are sad...
I will jump on the person
Who made you sad
Like a Spider Monkey
Jacked up on Mt. Dew!
When you are blue...
I will try to dislodge
Whatever is choking you!
When you smile...
I will know you are
Plotting something
That I must be invovled in!
When you are scared...
We will high tail it
Out of here!
When you are worried...
I will tell you horrible Stories
About how much worse it could be
Until you quit whinning ya big baby!
When you are confused...
I will use little words.
When you are sick...
Stay away from me
Until you are well again,
I don't want what you have!
When you fall...
I'll pick you up
And dust you off
After I laugh my rear off!
This is my oath...
I pledge it to the end.
Why? You may ask...
Because you are my FRIEND!

As it turns out...
Apparently as it turns out... I can be unduely harsh at times.
No really... ME! Can you believe that?
A friend (who shall remain nameless) recently told me that I was being harsh and that he/she did not deserve that.
Now the way I see it is just because someone else chooses to be blind to the situation at hand and I choose to be open-minded and see things for what they are AND THEN choose to verbally call it like I see it does not mean that I am being mean or insensitive, it just means that I am aware of what is going on and see no reason it dancing around the facts.
Don't get me wrong, we all have our moments where we say or do something that isn't very nice or inadvertently hurts someone's feelings and although we should pay attention and try not to do these things unfortunately they do still happen. But in this peticular incident it is just not the case.
Anyone who knows me and especially those who know me well should know that I pride myself on having the ability to view things as they are and not how we want them to be.
There is a difference between sarcasm, honestly, brutal honesty and just plain being hateful.
Yes... I can be sarcastic (it's the body's natural defense to stupidity.)
Yes... I can be honest (a practice we should all exercise.)
Yes... I can be brutally honest (sometimes it is necessary.)
Yes... I can be hateful (I try not to do this too often & when I do I usually end up apologizing later.)
But what it comes down to is that those who can truely call me their friend should absolutely know the difference in these things when it comes to me.

I Miss You
I MISS YOU...
When I am bored & when I am busy.
When I am alone & when I am in a crowd.
When I am worried & when I am content.
When I am upset & when I am happy.
When I am at work & when I am at home.
When I am sad & when I am excited.
When it is loud & when it is quiet.
When it is rainy & when it is sunny.
When it is winter & when it is summer.
When it is fall and when it is spring.
When it is night & when it is day.
MOM... I MISS YOU ALWAYS IS WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY!
Trust
It never ceases to amaze me how some people will do anything to get their way,
Things are said and words are twisted in ways that they are never meant to be.
We let our guard down and are sucked into their game,
Only to be tossed aside when they are finished with us at the end of the day.
It changes who we are and who we want to be,
Relationships are affected and friendships too.
Making us second guess ourselves and those we know,
Trust in becomes the major issue.
It's a sad thing when we can no longer take things at face value,
Thinking that people's outward appearance is true.
We start by assuming everyone has good intentions
But end up wondering what they are up to.
